ALL of my guys recently went through a bout of this--Asta's always had gooky eyes, which we chalked up to allergies.  NO one else has ever had a problem.  Then one day, all four of them!  My vet said that she's had a MUCH better response using the liquid antibiotics like Gentocin (which also comes in an ointment) than creams or ointments for the eyes.  So, did drops twice a day for 10 days and not only did everyone else get cleared up, but it's been 3 weeks and Asta's eyes have never been clearer!  had to use 2 bottles of Gentocin to treat four dogs for 10 days, but it was worth it!
